TA-SETI

An African Historical Society

Research, Analysis, Cultivate Excellence

History

TA-SETI is an African historical society dedicated to the research and dissemination of information regarding ancient Africa and, thus, the origin of mankind. The organization was formed in 1989 by a group of individuals deeply concerned about the overall condition of the African community in Houston and around the world. It is the opinion of TA-SETI that the underlying factor from which all of our problems develop is a lack of true knowledge of self. This fundamental issue produces self-hatred, which manifests itself in many forms. The name TA-SETI refers to the title given to the oldest monarchy of ancient Kemet or Egypt. This was the location where the first medunetcher or hieroglyphics were found.

PURPOSE

The purpose of TA-SETI is to enhance the consciousness of African people through diligent research and analysis of our ancient and contemporary culture and thereby fostering a stronger sense of self-esteem, which manifests itself in the form of mutual respect and excellence in all our endeavors… FREE THE AFRICAN MIND.

.

GOAL

TA-SETI’s goals include, but are not limited to: an annual fundraiser to benefit Dr. Yosef ben-Jochannan’s research; sending students to Kemet each year; initiating speakers bureau (utilizing local speakers); planning four major activities each year centered around the solstices and the equinox; annual statewide activity in conjunction with other sister organizations; providing research paper topics for scholarship contestants; educational tours to Africa and other lands in the diaspora.
